Foundation Recognized for Nonprofit Excellence
The Foundation is pleased to announce that it has been recertified under the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations (PANO) Standards for Excellence program. Our organization received its original Seal of Excellence in April 2007 and was required to undergo reexamination this year to retain the seal for an additional five years.

The Seal of Excellence designates successful compliance with PANO’s Standards for Excellence: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector. The code includes 56 standards to which the Foundation had to demonstrate adherence in order to retain certification. The Seal represents that the Foundation continues to display appropriate management, responsible governance, public trustworthiness, transparency, and accountability.

As part of the certification program, the Foundation opened itself to a rigorous review of its programs and management practices. Some of the areas observed included board conduct, conflict of interest management, and financial reporting procedures. In addition, the Foundation exhibited program evaluation techniques and methods of accountability and transparency to donors.

“Foundation board and staff members are proud to have achieved this recognition once again,” said Raymond C. Truex, Jr., MD, FACS. “This honor is a testament to the fact that our organization represents ‘excellence’ in all aspects of program and administrative management.”
